We have been serving our area community for many years. We're thankful to be an important part of this community and will continue our longstanding legacy of helping families honor their loved ones.

For three generations, the Bobcean Family had served in the funeral profession. Commencing around 1910 Edward H. Bobcean started an undertaker establishment in Detroit in the area of Michigan Ave. and 20th Street. Arthur, his son, joined the business in 1934. In 1939 Arthur and his wife Ethel moved to Flat Rock and started their own funeral home, which still remains today. Sons Lee and James joined their parents in the 1970s. In 1988 they purchased the Baker Funeral Home in Carleton, Michigan, which was changed to the Arthur Bobcean Funeral Home, Inc. Carleton Chapel. This allowed us to increase our service area to cover southern Wayne county and northern Monroe county.

On September 13, 2019, Robert J. Gilbert purchased the funeral homes from the Bobcean family. It has been renamed Bobcean Funeral Home, to continue to honor the family that has served this community for so long. It will continue to serve the community's needs, while keeping the traditions and values that have always been a part of the funeral home.

Since we are family owned and operated we believe in the family values that we were taught. The values of honesty, integrity, and the value of personalized service to our families. It is for these reasons that we will continue to serve future generations of families that were first served by the Bobcean family as far back as 80 years ago.
